Hiren Chate, Ahmedabad

Hiren Chate is a budding tabla player. He started playing tabla under the guidance of his father, Shri Raghunath Chate at the age of 7. After this, he took training under Shri Divyangbhai Vakil for over 6 years. Divyangbhai is a disciple of the Late Ustad Allah Rakha Khan.

Presently, Hiren is learning tabla playing under the able guidance of Prof. Sudhir Kumar Saxena in Baroda. Shri Saxena is the former principal of the reputed Music College at M.S.University, Baroda.

Hiren has already performed as a solo artist and has accompanied other with his fine table playing skills. He has represented his college L.D.Arts in Ahmedabad at various competitions at University levels.

His other achievements till date include performing with a group of French artists who were in the city for a Jazz Festival (Oct., 1999). He has also been a performer at a fusion concert in Ahmedabad on the World Music Day (21st June, 2000). Hiren has won a prize at the Omkarnath Sangeet Spardha in Surat last year.

Hiren has performed before renowned Tabla players such as Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Swapan Chaudhary, Shubankar Banerjee, etc.

Also working as a customer associate at Music World, Ahmedabad, Hiren wants to devote his life to tabla playing.
