Maharshi Raval, Ahmedabad

This 24 year old tabla player from Ahmedabad shows promising talent. Academically also, Maharshi has varied interests. After his B.Com, he also holds a diploma in Computer Science from Gujarat University. Currently, he is doing his M.Com at the same university.

Maharshi has been learning music for the last 15 years at Saptak School of Music in Ahmedabad. He has travelled extensively to various parts of the world as an accompanist to Indian Classical vocalists and instrumentalists. He also performed at concerts with Pt. Kishan Maharaj, Ustad Shahid Parvez, Pt. Rajan-Sajan Mishra, Late Ustad Allarakha Khan, Pt. Ronu Majumdar, Pt. Ajay Pohankar, etc as the audience!

He recently conducted and directed the tabla recital of 100 students aged between 4 to 14 yrs on the occasion of Indian Heritage Day, 2001. Maharshi has formed a group GANESHA, who have performed under the SurAurSaaz.com banner at Gandhinagar. More shows of the fusion band are coming up.

Maharshi has also been a music teacher for a few years with Eklavya School in Ahmedabad. Currently, Maharshi runs a music institute at Ahmedabad - Shree Gajanan Cultural Mission - The Institute of Music and Dance. Here, he trains young students in tabla playing.
