Naad aims to promote Indian classical music - vocal, instrumental and dance. More emphasis is given to instrumental music since this aspect appears to have been somewhat ignored in Pune, Maharashtra.

It believes in the ancient tradition of music learning - the gurukul system, where aspiring students of music are given training and given opportunities to develop their talent.

Students come from various places in India and abroad. Earlier, it was known as "Vishwamohini" and has been active for over 25 years. The institute has been working under the guidance of Ustad Usman Khan, the sitar maestro of international repute.
