Tapas
Relia, Mumbai

Tapas Relia, born on 11th August, 1978, moved to Mumbai after completing his 12th Std in 1996 from St. Xavier's Loyola Hall, Ahmedabad.
He has a diploma from Trinity College of Music, London. Tapas is now working towards earning a fellowship from the same institute. He had enrolled for a 6 week "Music Technology" course at New York University, New York, U.S.A.
Tapas hopes of making it big in the music world and his dream is coming true. He has several achievements under his belt already, the best being "DREAMERS", an international short film for which he composed the musical score. It was the opening film at the "Valleyfest Film Festival" Knoxville, Tennesse.
The director of Dreamers - Khodus Wadia (also known for "Save The Tree" public film) met Tapas, and gave him a challenging task of composing music in 5 days for this international film. The only brief he got was that the music had to be predominantly dark and dreary. And Tapas delivered! His compositions received critical acclaim.
Tapas's choice for music is fusion. According to him, "people have this mistaken notion that coupling western beats with classical Indian instruments makes for fusion. The truth is, it requires a lot of orchestration, works on a higher octave and uses a lot of percussion and heavy sounds."
Tapas was featured on Star Plus in "Ek din ek jeevan" in February, 1998 alongwith the prominent lyricist Javed Akhtar. And interviewed by Talveen Singh. Incidentally, Tapas has composed 3 songs from Javed Akhtar's collections of poems - Tarkash.
His music compositions till date, have been categorised as under :
CD-ROMs : Kamasutra, M.F. Hussain (Works & Life), Reiki, Cricket World Cup 1999, Bhagwan Mahavir Swami, Azaadi (50 years of Indian Independence)
Corporate Presentations : Siemens, Glaxo, Sahara, Hindustan Lever, Godrej, Tata, Sun Pharma
Films & Shows : Gaj-gamini (CD in the book version of the film by M.F.Hussain), Miss Gujarat 1998
You can catch his jingle for Pan Parag with Aman Verma, the all new "Kya aap Close Up kartein hain.." on air. Tapas has done several radio spots for Tata Safari, Sunfill, Perk, and TV channel promos like Sony's "Deewana Bana De" for Sony, etc.
Tapas recorded singers KK, Kunal, Sonu Nigam, etc. for
songs of "See you at 9". His music in the next
