Shubhada Moghe,Mumbai

Shubhada Moghe is an exponent of the Bhaskarbua Bakhle gayaki, - a rich blend of Gwalior, Agra & Jaipur gharanas. A disciple of Pandit Manikbua Thakurdas, the well-known scholar & musicologist & the only veteran musician in India of this gayaki, Shubhada has inherited a rich tradition learning traditionally known & rare ragas and thumris.

Pt. Manikbua Thakurdas has been her only Guru & Shubhada has participated with him in lecture-demonstrations on "Rare ragas & talas", "Kalyan ke Prakar" "Todi ke prakar", in "Sangeet Ek Samvedana" & on "melkarta" ragas.

A graduate with English & French Literature & a post-graduate in Information Science, Shubhada worked in the information field in leading companies and was sponsored by the Rotary International (Chicago) to visit USA, where she gave lecture-demonstrations on Hindustani classical music.

Shubhada's concerts are well appreciated. She has rendered individual performances at several prestigious music circles in India like - NCPA, Nehru Centre, Y.B.Chavan Prathisthan, Indian Music Group (IMG), Vile Parle Music Circle, Bade Gulam Ali Khan Yadgaar Sabha, Suburban Music Circle, Mahatma Gandhi Seva Mandir - Music Lovers' Club, Udayan etc. Her concerts at Karnataka Sangha & at the Ustad Alladiya Khan Sammelan, where she sang rare ragas, are highly acclaimed & still talked about by music connoisseurs.

In August 1999, she participated in a grand function to felicitate Pt. Manikbua Thakurdas on his 90th birthday This function was held in Mumbai & was well attended by stalwarts from the field of music. In February 2001, Shubhada participated in a two day music festival organised by Ustad Halim Jaffer Khan's "Halim Academy of Sitar".

Shubhada aims to keep the tradition of the Bhaskarbua Bakhle gayaki alive and to popularise rare but traditional ragas which have been taught to her by her Guruji, Pt. Manikbua Thakurdas whose lineage goes back seven generations of musicians.
