orn in 1965 at Kolkata, Piu Sarkhel is one of today's very few female artists representing the Indore gharana of Hindustani Classical Vocal Music.

Piu has been receiving training under the tutelage of her father, Shri Kamal Bandhopadhyay, who was a close associate and beloved disciple of the late Ustad Amir Khan of Indore.
