Late Rajul Mehta,Mumbai
Rajul Mehta was a very well known and talented singer from Mumbai. Her initial training of music was from her father Shri Ninubhai Mazumdar. Later, she received a Masters degree in Music from SNDT University, Mumbai. She also received her training in classical music from Maestros like Smt. Minakshi Mudbudri, Shri. V. R. Athavle and she has continued learning from Master Navrang.
She sang classical, semi-classical, Gujarati, Hindi, Rajasthani folk songs, Ghazals and Bhajans. She learnt Gujarati folk music from the well known folk singer late Hemu Gadhvi.
Rajul has given playback in several Gujarati films. She gives numerous programs every year of wedding songs and Raas Garbas. She has also extensively performed in England and Europe.
Rajul was born in Varanasi and brought up in family of famous musicians of Mumbai. Her father, Late Ninu Mazumdar, was one of the pioneers of Sugam Sangeet. He was a well known poet, singer and composer.
Rajul has been singing on All India Radio for more than three decades now. She has recorded numerous Dance Ballets like Anarkali, Chaula Devi, Mehraman Na Moti and Saraswatichandra for famous dancers like Asha Parekh, Late Yogendra Desai and famous musician Late Avinash Vyas.
She also conducted classes in music - mainly for Gujarati, Hindi, Bhojpuri and Rajasthani for songs at: Kapol Utkarsh Mandal at Mumbai. She passed away in late 2007.
