Tabla
Lesson 5
Kayda
Kayda means a rule. All these kaydas are traditional
compositions, which are fixed. Meaning whatever we play
in the Kayda is composed by some of the great maestro
of the instrument. The Kayda consist of a Main Theme,
which is called as the Main Kayda.
After
this main theme the variations follow. These variations
also are to be played following certain rules, like
only those bols can be used which are used in the Main
Kayda.
Each
of these variations is called as Palta. Each kayda consist
of 5 to 6 palta and the total presentation of the Kayda
ends with a Tihai. Tihai is a group of bols (phrase)
which is to be played three times for getting right
on the first beat which is called as the Suum (Sam).
