Sheila belongs to the new generation of avant-garde vocalists, who has assimilated the best of contemporary gayakis before evolving a style of singing which is distinctly individualistic.

She was inspired into music by her mother. Later, she received training in vocal singing from Smt. Sarawatibai Rane of Kirana gharana. Further refining of her talent was done by Veena Saharsrabuddhe of Gwalior gharana. The evolution of Sheila's music received finishing touches by Smt. Kishori Amonkar of Jaipur gharana. Guidance from well-known Dhrupad singer Ustad Sayeeduddin Dagar and from Faiyaz Khan has also been invaluable in her music career.

Sheila has performed impressively on a number of platforms such as NCPA (Mumbai), India International Centre (New Delhi), Savai Gandharva Festival (Pune), etc.

Other significant achievement in her career has been a three year scholarship awarded by the Govt. of India (National Talent Scholarship). This in turn was followed by Late Shri Dinanath Mangeshkar award, the Surmani, and so on.

Sheila having inherited the traits of three gharanas has enriched each one of them and at the same time, she has her own style. This indeed has helped her to get into the realm of creativity. She is a promising singer in today's generation of Indian classical music.
