 Kshemu Divetia,Ahmedabad

Born on 1st October, 1924, Shri Kshemu Divetia has today become synonymous with Gujarati music. Besides having been a cricketer at Gujarat College (under test player Jasu Patel), he was the first cricket commentator in Gujarati in 1955-56.
After college, Kshemubhai took training in classical music from Hamid Hussain Khan and thereafter from Shri V. R. Athavle. He has been a member of various music organisations such as All India Radio (on the Audition Board), Shruti (since 1962), Kadamb at Ahmedabad.
HMV has also released albums such as "Shravan Madhuri" under his music direction. In 1984, he produced a set of 4 cassettes "Sangeet Sudha" recorded at Sudeep Studio. This set is a collection of 49 songs by 35 Gujarati poets sung by 26 well known artists.
He has composed music for many AIR programmes, TV serials and dramas. His wife, Late Smt. Sudhaben, was also a well known singer and they have jointly composed many songs.
Today, Kshemubhai is actively involved in guiding young and talented singers, besides other music institutions of the city.
