Born on 30th September, 1933, Shri Prabhakar Pandit has achieved a mark for himself in the field of music. Educated in Satara under Shri Matangebua and Shri Pendharkar, he has devoted over 40 years of his life to music.

He has done the music direction of several plays, TV serials, films in Marathi. A large number of his cassettes have received "Platinum" and "Golden Disc" awards, so have his jingles on Akashvani - where he worked for over 15 years.

Today, he also acts as an examiner at Bombay University tests and is a visiting professor for music.

During his music travels, he has come in contact with many a reputed singers such as Usha Mangeshkar, Arun Date, Suman Kalyanpur, Anup Jalota, Ravindra Sathe, Mahendra Kapur, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Snehal Bhatkar, etc. He has also trained youngsters in light & classical music, who are now becoming known in music circles.

Prabhakar Pandit is giving the benefit of his knowledge and experience to all his students selflessly even today. Thus, serves the goddess of all arts - Devi Saraswati, with great devotion.
