Dharwad, the source of brilliant gems adorning the Indian classical music scene, such as Pt. Mallikarjun Mansoor, Kumar Gandharva, Bhimsen Joshi, has this another talented singer.

Geeta was initiated into music at the age of 10 by Shri R. P. Hugar and she swiftly went on to bag honours at district and State level competitions. She topped in both, Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Alankar examinations, B.A. (Music) of Karnataka University, and received a scholarship from the Mysore State Sangeet Natak Academy.

She was trained in music by Pt. R. P. Hugar, Pt. Panchakshari Mattigatti, Pt. Ratnakar Pai and Smt. Padmavati Shaligram. She also received guidance from Padma Vibhushan Pt. Mallikarjun Mansoor.

Since the age of 15, Geeta has performed at innumerable places - including the Darbar Hall of the Mysore Palace, Sawai Gandharva Festival at Pune, NCPA Mumbai, etc.
