Iqbal Khan,New Delhi

Iqbal Khan is the successor of Delhi Gharana and is well known for his versatile singing. He was lovingly adopted as a student and groomed by his maternal grandfather Sangeet Martand Ustad Chand Khan.

As a young boy, he won many prizes in music competitions at school including Ameer Khusro gold medal in 1966. A hot favourite of his grandfather, Iqbal received his blessing to be chosen as the "Head of Delhi Gharana" (Khalifa) and today, Iqbal is keeping up the family tradition.

In his college days, Iqbal received the "Amir Khan trophy" which he got during 1966-67 at a youth festival. He was awarded "Best Music Director-Composer" for his play Rup Bengal staged at Jamia Milia Islamia University (Delhi) and the popular T.V. serial Amir Khusro.

He has performed at all major music conferences in India and abroad and is a regular SPIC-MACAY invitee.

Iqbal has also recorded more than 200 rare traditional classical music compositions based on various ragas and talas at Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata.
