Neha Mehta,Mumbai



Neha Mehta has a very melodious voice since childhood and is gifted with musical sense. As she started winning prizes in school for music competitions, her parents and teachers started encouraging her to develop her talent. She then took extensive training in Hindustani Classical Music from Pt. Jiyalal Vasant. In 1986, she was honoured with a degree of Sangit Visharad from Prayag University, Allahabad.

During college days, Neha won many inter-collegiate competitions at festivals like Malhar, Kaliedoscope, etc. She was given the "best female singer" award at her college, where she completed her B.Com and L.L.B.

Neha has given solo performances of ghazals, bhajans and rendered songs for many private albums. She has sung for a number of jingles in more than six languages for radio and television. She can be heard in ongoing serials on TV like Rishtey - love stories (Zee), Alpaviram (Sony), Dhund, Swapna Kinare (Alfa Gujarati), etc. Her achievements also include a song for "Miss World" contest held at Bangalore, under the noted music director Ilayaraja.

Neha is an approved B High Artiste for All India Radio, Mumbai, where her songs are regularly broadcasted. Her voice has been utlilised for recordings and live shows by music directors like Jagjit Singh, Navin Shah, Uttank Vora, Chetan Ghadvi, etc. She has also performed at various cities in the country.

She is currently taking training in semi-classical and light vocal music from Pt. Vinayak Vora (a jury member of SurAurSaaz.com). And is being considered as a promising talent in the younger breed of Hindi and Gujarati music circles.
