<strong>Ravi Iyer<\/strong>, accompanied by a three-member band \u2013 consisting of <strong>Shawn Pereira Docarmo<\/strong> (lead vocals\/rhythm guitar); <strong>Geet Gupta<\/strong> (upright bass); and <strong>Vedaantaa<\/strong> (cajon) \u2013 featured a \u2018<em>Rockumentary Takeover<\/em>\u2019 with a 75-minute set at Baroke, a vinyl listening bar located not on the dark side, but on the southside of Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p>In redoing songs from Pink Floyd\u2019s past, guitarist Ravi was back at what he does best: sharing his incredible talent, as the gig started at 9.06pm to a crowded house with \u201cIn The Flesh\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Expectedly, the bulk of the setlist was spread across Pink Floyd\u2019s more popular albums, \u2018The Dark Side Of The Moon\u2019, \u2018Wish You Were Here\u2019 (this writer\u2019s favourite), and \u2018The Wall\u2019, but the repertoire also included \u201cComing<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4966 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2-177x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"177\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2-177x300.jpeg 177w, https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2-605x1024.jpeg 605w, https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/2.jpeg 718w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 177px) 100vw, 177px\" \/> Back To Life\u201d from \u2018The Division Bell\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Acoustic renditions often lean into the melancholic, reflective, and sometimes desolate themes that permeate Roger Waters\u2019 songwriting\u2014right from the &#8220;machine&#8221; of the music industry to the loss of connection \u2013 but Ravi\u2019s band brought out the &#8220;bittersweet&#8221; quality of the songs through the set list by providing a unique, more subdued, and personal experience compared to Pink Floyd\u2019s renowned, large-scale, and immersive live audio productions.<\/p>\n<p>For the uninitiated, Ravi Iyer received his obvious popularity because of his prowess on the guitar, amalgamating the sounds of a predominantly Western music instrument with multiple Indian instruments, creating his inimitable sound and expertise in the genres of both fusion and rock.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4965 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"288\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.sudeepaudio.com\/saundcheck\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1.jpeg 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/>No doubt, the acoustic renditions performed during \u2018Rockumentary Takeover\u2019 were obviously challenging for Ravi\u2019s band, but Ravi was most impressive with the arrangements as, apparently, both guitarists \u201crehearsed\u201d the content online with Shawn, based in Hyderabad, and Ravi in Mumbai.<\/p>\n<p>But the comparatively minimal sounds had a maximum impact on the remarkable talent of the members \u00a0&#8211; including guest Anand Dwarkanath, who utilized the harmonica on those passages that had featured saxophone on the original selections, such as \u201cMoney\u201d and \u201cShine On You Crazy Diamond\u201d \u2013 in an impressive manner. \u00a0The sounds of simplicity held the band in staid while the acoustic interpretations transformed Floyd\u2019s sprawling, psychedelic, and progressive rock masterpieces into intimate, stripped-down performances, effectively relying on acoustic guitars and a double bass to highlight the raw emotion and songwriting at the core of Pink Floyd\u2019s music.<\/p>\n<p>While the original recordings are known for their complex soundscapes, sonic experiments, and studio production, Ravi\u2019s acoustic arrangements focused on the lyrical themes and melodic structure as he superbly overcame the acoustic challenge in the Pink (Floyd) of musical
